Selling Online Is Better Than Ever
More than 132 million people, or four out of every five online
consumers in the United States, visited retail sites in December
according to ComScore Media Metrix. Five of the top 10 gaining
categories in December were retail-oriented and the fastest
growing retail subcategory, jewelry/luxury goods and accessories,
increased 30 percent from November to December and 15 percent
over the same period in 2003.
What does that mean for you? Now is a great time to be online!
As a photographer, there are so many ways you can use your
website. First and foremost, it should be your portfolio. Don’t
have just a few images online. Don’t get fancy, and create
flash presentations. Make it simple – and load up on the images.
When people come into your studio, do they look at one or
two? No! They look at dozens. They go through albums, and look
at every image on your wall. They love looking at images. Give
them what they want.
Then use your portfolio to pull them in. Your most important
goal is to capture attention. Making the sale isn’t always
top priority. Capturing their phone number or address is. You
want to establish contact with them so you can keep marketing
to them.
Then email them. Add them to your database. Contact them and
send them links to your website that contain the exact type
of photography they are looking for.
It’s so easy to use your site, and upload digital images any
time. Provide good examples, keep in touch, and increase your
business.
