Ways Of Networking
How
do you get new clients? Do you work from referrals? When was
the last time you attended a local networking event, and made
contact with people that brought you in business?
Try
attending a new event this month. There are so many different
types of networking events, things you may have never thought
of, or even heard of before, but can open your mind to new ideas.
Begin
by going to the Biz Journals
website. This is the parent company of 42 city business journal
newspapers. From here you can link up to your city and find
many different networking groups around town.
Don’t
just limit yourself to your local chamber, or industry related
association meetings. Instead try something new.
I
recently attended a local event, DaVinci
Institute, that provides interesting and relevant information
to entrepreneurs. It’s a wonderful place for new ideas to sprout,
and to meet people that can offer you advice on things you’ve
never even dreamed of.
When
you’re ready to take your business to a whole different level,
and to learn more about capital and funding your business ideas,
check out IBI Global.
They have chapters in many different cities, and are a very
interesting mix of people and business opportunities. Our local
meeting can sometimes be attended by up to 100 people.
Remember
there are more reasons to network than to bring in business
today. Think of it as a way of getting your name out there.
IBI Global has their national meeting five times a year. I attended
the first time in December 2003. There I met a wildlife photographer
who was looking at promoting his business, and to find a way
of getting his books, calendars and journals based on his photography
out into the market place. He now is in the process of opening
several mall locations, and originated his idea by being open
to the possibilities, and of making contacts through a non-industry
related networking event.
Dream
big. And find ways of putting those dreams into action.
